If you missed last year’s performance of Handel’s Messiah at Knox Presbyterian Church, this is your chance to enjoy the concert from the comfort and safety of your own home.
Presented by Orchestra Grey Bruce and the Saugeen County Chorus, the free, encore performance will launch on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. on the Kincardine Summer Music Festival YouTube channel.
This year, due to Covid-19, it was impossible to rehearse and perform this concert live and in person.
Fortunately, a recording had been made of the excellent performance from 2019, and so it became possible to create a video of that and use the Kincardine Summer Music Festival YouTube channel as a platform for this encore presentation. Thanks to Rick French and Nick Reid for their work on this recording.
Conductor Rob Tite led a large and talented ensemble featuring soloists Nicole Reid, soprano; Nicole Percifield, alto; Matt Chittick, tenor; Aaron Dimoff, bass; Aaron Hodgson, trumpet; and Diane Eaton, harpsichord and organ.
Orchestra Grey Bruce is made up of musicians from Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, plus soloists from across Ontario and Quebec. For this concert in December 2019, the orchestra included principals Paul Earl and Reanne Kruisselbrink, violins; Jasmine Schnarr, viola; Thomas Beard, cello; and James Gannett, bass, as well as 21 orchestra members.
The Saugeen County Chorus is a collection of 50 talented vocalists, most from the Kincardine area, but also from Southampton, Port Elgin, Paisley, Clifford, Inverhuron, Lucknow and Goderich.
