Wolves lose opener to Clinton

The Clinton Radars defeated the Ripley Wolves on Sunday night, in game one of the WOAA senior semi-finals, 5-2. Clinton had won game seven against Minto the night before in Palmerston, in their quarter final series.

Jared Colling had given Ripley a 1-0 lead in the first period, with assists from Cody Britton and Gerritt Satosek.

Dan Nicoloff scored in the second period, with assists going to Jarrett Kuntz and Alex Kuntz. It was tied 2-2 going in to the third period.

Clinton score three unanswered goals in the third period, for a 5-2 win.

Jason Hamilton took the loss in net, stopping 28 out of 32 shots. Clinton’s fifth goal was into an empty net.

Clinton has won the WOAA Senior league championship the last three times it was played. Seaforth won its first game of the other semi-final 4-2, at home against Tavistock.

The next game in the semi-finals is in Clinton on Friday night at 8:30 p.m., with game three back in Ripley on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The Kincardine Bulldogs split their away and home games with the Wingham Ironmen this past weekend. On Friday night in Wingham, they lost 2-0, with Wingham getting their second goal into an empty net. The Bulldogs outshot Wingham, 24-18.

On Saturday night at home, the Bulldogs defeated the Ironmen in overtime, 4-3. Nolan Koetsier scored the overtime winner with an assist from Brennon Long.

Jason Taylor, Gavin Downs and Jordan Beisel all scored for the Bulldogs, in regulation time.

Ryan Tanner picked up the win in net, stopping 38 of 41 shots.

The Bulldogs have two road games this weekend, starting Saturday night in Goderich at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday afternoon, they travel to Mount Forest for a 2 p.m. game.

The Bulldogs will play either Wingham or Walkerton in their first round of playoffs. The weekend games will decide playoff opponents.
