Wolves and Bulldogs suffer losses this weekend

By Doug Kennedy

The Ripley Wolves lost 3-2 in overtime to Saugeen Shores in Ripley on Saturday night.

Cody Britton scored both goals, including one in the last minute of play, to tie the game at two. Trent Hawke scored the winner for Saugeen Shores two minutes into overtime. Garrett Meurs, Nick Sellers and Brett Catton got assists for Ripley.

Gatlin Burt took the loss in net, stopping 35 shots.

Ripley travels to Seaforth this Saturday night to play a really good young team that is 3-0.

The Bulldogs lost 4-0 in Hanover last Friday night in their only game of the weekend. Kincardine has been having trouble scoring in their last three games. The Bulldogs travel to Walkerton on Friday night and play Mount Forest at home on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

It looks like Mitchell and Hanover are the teams to beat, with both teams having really good goalies, which makes it tougher to upset them.

MLB will have a new world series champion to crown in the next couple of weeks as the Los Angeles Dodgers were beat out by the Atlanta Braves.

With ex-Toronto Blue Jays Manager Alex Anthopoulos now the manager of the Atlanta Braves, it has a strong Canadian connection.

Alex has been the GM in Atlanta since 2017, after spending two years with the Dodgers, after leaving the Blue Jays. He is the reason I am cheering for the Braves and picking them to win in six games.
