Walkers and runners turn out for annual cancer fundraiser By Tammy Schneider

In spite of a downpour, walkers and runners of all ages came out to support the annual Terry Fox Run fundraiser on Sept. 15 at the Davidson Centre. Because of the inclement weather, many of the walkers chose ttake advantage of the indoor track to put in their kilometres, while runners chose to brave the rain and run outside. The ceremony opened with a greeting from Mayor Anne Eadie, who remarked that the rain never stopped Terry Fox during his trek across Canada. After singing the national anthem, the entire group was led around the track by members of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band and then either headed outdoors or continued to walk inside. Fifty walkers and runners came out to support the run, and a total of $11,017 was raised. Of that total, $7,732 came in at the walk and $3,285 was pledged online.
