Talks between the Ontario government and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) have stalled again.
The secondary school teacher’s union will continue with its planned one-day rotating walkouts on Friday, Feb. 28 at several boards including Bluewater District School Board.
Because OSSTF members include secondary teachers and education workers, it means elementary schools will also be affected and as a result, all public secondary and elementary schools in Bluewater will close that day.
Talks between the province and the union representing English Catholic teachers union on Feb. 24 were ‘meaningful’ and for now, the strike planned for Bruce Grey Catholic District schools on Thursday, Feb. 27 has been cancelled.
However, officials say if the talks become fruitless, further announcements will be made.
Meanwhile public elementary teachers have entered Phase six of their job action, announcing that members will no longer cover for absent colleagues if a supply teacher does not show up.
So far, there has been no mention of any rotating walk outs this week or next.
