VI THOMPSON
Virene “Vi” Elva Thompson (née Finlayson), formerly of R.R. #2, Kincardine, passed away at R-Villa Retirement Residence in Ripley on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at the age of 93.
Beloved wife of the late Alvin Errington Thompson (2015).
Dear mother of Sandra (Allan) MacDonald of R.R. #2, Ripley; Karen (Tom) Riley of R.R. #4, Walkerton; Arlene Thompson (Peter Corbett) of London; Brian (Betty Anne Bushell) Thompson of R. R. #2, Kincardine; Joyce (Chris) Cotterall of Brisbane, Australia; and Janice Thompson (Ron Johnston) of Granbury, Texas.
Missed by her grandchildren: Terry (Sean Pressey), Regan (Derek Hori), James (Anita) MacDonald, Brad MacDonald, Brett Thompson (Dan Wright), Allyson (Andrew Lambert), Robyn (Greg Farrell), Amanda Riley, Darcy Cotterall and Elly Cotterall and by her great-grandchildren: Emma, Evan, Evie, Jack, Nathan, Charlie, Emmett, Kate, Jase, Finley, Tristan, Jillian and Kira.
Fondly remembered by her sisters Oral Cameron of London and Marilyn (Bob) Johnston of Ripley, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
After graduating with her nursing diploma from the Stratford School of Nursing in 1949, she worked for several years as a registered nurse at the St. Mary’s and Kincardine hospitals. Virene was an active member of Kincardine United Church, Kincardine Agricultural Society, Bruce County Museum Board and for 53 years with the Bervie Women’s Institute.
Predeceased by her parents Orville and Verna (née Hooey) Finlayson, grandson Jason Thompson, nephew Scott Cameron and in-laws Bernice and John Norman and Murray Cameron.
Final resting place: Kincardine Cemetery.
