V. PETER SHEWFELT

V. Peter Shewfelt, a resident of Maitland Manor in Goderich and formerly of Kincardine, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, in his 80th year.
Cherished son of the late Wilbert “Bert” and Verna (née Wall) Shewfelt.
Remembered by his sons Gregory (Debbie) of Georgia, USA; and John (Kim) of New Brunswick, and by all his grandchildren.
Survived by his brothers Kenneth, David and Brian, sister Joan and his nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his first wife Susan Shewfelt (née McEwan) and his second wife Penny Tersigni (née Brock).
After graduation from Kincardine District High School, Peter was employed in the financial world with Trans Canada Trust and went on to banking in Toronto for many years. Peter then returned to Kincardine and started a furniture store and purchased Penny’s Laundromat. He was a “do something new” kind of guy. Throughout his life, Peter enjoyed sailing, travelling and biking.
A graveside service to honour Peter’s life was held at the Kincardine Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, with Pastor Kenneth Craig officiating.
Special thanks to all the staff of Maitland Manor for their exceptional care for Peter during the past few years. Memorial donations to Maitland Manor Residents’ Council would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
