Obituary – Richard Picard

RICHARD PICARD

Richard “Dick” Picard passed away, with family by his side, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre – Kincardine on Oct. 18, 2024, at the age of 82.
Beloved husband of the late Sharon (née Kelch) Picard (2022).
Loving father of Michelle King (Frank Chartrand) and Jeffery Picard (Jennifer McKellar). Beloved grandpa of Max King, Kelli King, Mary McKellar and Jori Picard.
Dear brother of Sandy Foster (Gerry), Marilyn Latimer and George Picard (Cheryl).
Fondly remembered by in-laws Linda Forest (Terry) and Steve Kelch (Margaret), extended family, neighbours and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Wilf and Doris Picard, brother Alan Picard and son in-law Kevin King.
On Oct. 7, 1967, Dick married Sharon Archer – the love of his life – in Sarnia, Ontario. In 1971 Dick and Sharon, along with their two children, moved to Kincardine where Dick began his career at the Heavy Water Plant as a mechanical maintainer. Dick worked at the “Heavy” until he retired in the late nineties. Retirement meant more time together for Dick and Sharon – winters in Florida and golfing at Somerhill golf course. Dick was a parachuter with 109 jumps under his belt, a passionate wood worker and handy man. He took great pride in and care of the family home, putting his carpentry skill to good use. As a hunter, Dick enjoyed his yearly trip with his brother George, son Jeff, and cousins Tom and Barry. The hunt camp was called “Pray for Rain”; rain meant more time for stories and cards.
Dick was a dedicated family man; his family was everything to him. He was proud of them all, and loved them dearly. Dick’s absence will be greatly felt by all those who knew him.
Final resting place: Kincardine Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
