MICHAEL J. SAUTNER

Michael J. Sautner, affectionately known as “Mike”, passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2024, at his home, Delmanor, in Richmond Hill at age 86.
Michael was born on April 12, 1938 in Empress, Alberta and grew up on the family farm in Mendham, Saskatchewan. Michael worked in over 30 countries, primarily as a Commissioning Manager in the oil and gas industry, finally settling in Kincardine for many years.
He is predeceased by his wife Catherine (Barker) and survived by three children: Michelle (Dustin), Patricia (Paul) and Kevin and by two grandchildren, Alexa and Brayden, who were the joy of his life.
Michael will be remembered as a kind and friendly person, who enjoyed a good social outing. He had an unwavering commitment to the Roman Catholic Church, where he was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports fan who, without hesitation, could share all the details of any historical sports figure.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and residents at Delmanor Elgin Mills who welcomed him with open arms and went above and beyond to make Michael comfortable in the final chapter of his life.
His funeral was held on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024 at Our Lady Queen of the World Parish and was followed by a Celebration of Life at the Royal Canadian Legion in Richmond Hill.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Michael’s name.
