Obituary – Margaret Scott

MARGARET SCOTT

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen “Margaret” Scott, of Toronto and Kincardine, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre – Kincardine on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, in her 88th year, following a brief illness.
She was born in Kincardine and then, as a child, moved to the Brampton area. Following elementary and secondary school, she attended Ryerson Polytechnical College and spent her career teaching Home Economics in Toronto.
In 1984, she married Dean Benvenuto and a few years later purchased a heritage home in Glammis, commuting back and forth from Toronto. Several years later, they downsized to a smaller home in Kincardine, still going back and forth to the city.
She is survived by her step-family: Ted (Elga) Rea, Sean (Pauline) Rea, Doreen (Bill) Everitt and sister-in-law Jodie. Also survived by nephews Mike (Lina) Bigioni, Rob (Donna) Bigioni, Paul (Teresa) Bigioni and Denis (Trina) Bigioni and their families.
“Special Aunt” to Jo-Anne (David) Alexander, Sandra (Ken) Champ, Ken (Sheila Carmichael) Wrightson and their families, and a cousin to many Scott and LaFrance families.
Predeceased by her husband Dean Benvenuto on April 14, 2023; her parents Martin Scott and Kathleen (née LaFrance) Scott; step-mother Thirza Rea; and step-brother Bill Rea.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, followed by the memorial service honouring Margaret’s life at 2 p.m., with Pastor Kenneth Craig officiating.
Interment of ashes will be held at Churchville Cemetery, Brampton at a later date.
Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Portrait and memorial available online at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.
