MARGARET JANE COCHRANE
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Margaret Cochrane (née Thompson) at home on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, hours before her 87th birthday.
Margaret was born in Kincardine to Alberta and Elmer Thompson.
She spent many happy summers at the cottage in Kincardine with her husband, children
and grandchildren.
Margaret attended the University of Western Ontario graduating as a nurse (Class of 1961). She taught nursing in Toronto at Wellesley Hospital before dedicating her life to her family, community and church (Rosedale United Church).
She is predeceased and now reunited with her husband of 60 years, Michael Henry (1937-2021).
She is survived by her five children and 13 grandchildren: Michael David and Katharine Ashworth and Ellie, Ethan and Pippa of Greenwich, Connecticut; Martha Leigh and Paul Bourret and Spencer (Krissy), Hannah, Grace and Henry of Toronto; Melissa Jane and Robin Gray and Keegan (Jessica), Sienna and Maysa of Mystic, Connecticut; Mark Thompson and Cori Ruggles and Benjamin and Violet of Hong Kong; and Meredith Elizabeth and her daughter Olivia of Toronto. Always in our hearts is Olivia’s big sister Mackenzie (June 13, 2016).
She was an incredibly loving mother and a proud and loving ‘Grams’/‘Gammy’.
She will be missed and lovingly remembered always.
A private family funeral will be held in Toronto.
