Obituary – Kenneth E. King

KENNETH E KING

Ken was born on June 16, 1941. From a young age, he was destined for a life of purpose. At just 17, he made the brave decision to serve his country by joining the Canadian Navy. For 10 years, the sea was his world—a place where he honed his discipline, sense of duty, and his remarkable ability to stay calm and organized in any situation. These qualities stayed with him throughout his life.
Ken’s life truly began to take shape when he met his beloved wife, Lise. At 23, he embarked on his greatest adventure – starting a family. Together, Ken and Lise began their lives in England before eventually settling in Kincardine, Ontario. They raised two sons, Keith and Kevin, building a home filled with love, laughter and the values Ken held dear.
Ken dedicated many years to Ontario Hydro, a career that provided him with not only professional fulfillment but also opportunities for travel, growth and exploration. His work took him and Lise to places like South Korea and Deep River, but they eventually found their forever home in Kincardine, where they lived for over 50 years. To Ken, home was always where his family was, and he made each new place feel like just that.
Ken’s love for organizing and planning was evident in every aspect of his life. He was the one you could always count on to keep things running smoothly – whether at work, at home, or at the hockey rink, a sport he followed passionately. The outdoors and hunting were also close to his heart. He was never too busy to lend a hand or offer support, and his sense of responsibility and dedication to those around him was unwavering.
Ken’s family was the pride and joy of his life. He was a loving husband to Lise, a proud father to Keith and Kevin, his daughters-in-law Michelle and Jennifer, and a devoted grandfather to Max, Kelli, Jean-Luc and Nicole. He was also blessed to meet his great-granddaughter Ripley. His siblings – Orland, Murray, Marilyn, Doreen, Sharon and Colleen -were never far from his thoughts and heart.
Ken leaves behind a legacy of love, discipline and generosity. He lived his life with warmth and kindness, always putting others before himself; the impact of his actions and character will be felt for years to come.
Surrounded by his family, Ken passed peacefully on September 28, 2024, leaving an irreplaceable space in our hearts, but his memory will continue to inspire us all.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024 from 2-5 p.m. at the Kincardine Legion. Refreshments will be available. All are welcome.
As we say goodbye, we are comforted by the thought that Ken’s spirit lives on in the lives of those he touched. His was a life well-lived, and his memory will forever be a source of strength and joy for his family and friends. Rest in peace, Ken. You will be dearly missed.
