Obituary – John D. Martyn


John Donald Martyn died on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at his residence in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
John was born on Aug. 24,1943, in London, Ontario, to the late Donald Martyn and Isabel Maclean.
He is survived by his daughters: Paula in Gravenhust, Ontario; and Colleen and Kelly in New York City.
Brother of Doug and Karen Martyn of Ripley.
A service was held on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
A private interment at the Ripley Cemetery will follow at a later date.

  1. My late husband,Jack, and I had so many good times with John. I can’t believe he’s gone.
    My deepest sympathy to his family.

  2. We spoke at least weekly so there will be a gap in our lives.
    John suffered pain and was alone but for Dakota. Deep sadness here.

  3. He would always brighten up when he spoke of his girls no matter how tough things were. Sad to hear he is gone…. my belated condolences to his family.

  4. I was very sorry to learn of Jon’s passing. I remember sharing with him fishing at Harkers Island. While Jon had a great affection for flyfishing, his greatest loves were found in his daughters. Please accept my belated condolences.
