Obituary – Jean Weber

JEAN WEBER

Jean Kathleen Weber (née Smith) passed away at the Welland Hospital on Dec. 8, 2019, in her 86th year.
Jean was born in Kinloss Township on Aug. 25, 1934. Along with her parents and sister, she moved to Kincardine in May of 1941. She lived permanently in the Welland area since 1955. Jean was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.
She was predeceased by her husband Calvin (1989), her son David (1979), her parents (1960 and 1971), her sister Joyce (2012) and by 26 aunts and uncles.
She is survived by many first and second cousins.
In the past, Jean had been a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, children’s club teacher and treasurer for the 8th Welland Scouting Mother’s Auxiliary. In 2003, she was honoured with an Ontario Volunteer Award from the Ministry of Citizenship for 10 years of volunteer work – telephoning shut-ins on a regular basis for Community Support Services of the Niagara Region and as a server for Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered at the Welland Hospital for several years, mainly on the flower cart.
Visitation was held at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home (241 West Main Street, Welland; 905-735-1414) at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019. Pastor Jukka Saarinen conducted the service at 11 a.m. in the Cudney Chapel.
Interment St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Bethel, Ontario.
