Obituary – Hilery McAlpine

HILERY McALPINE

Hilery Ruth McAlpine (née White) passed away peacefully into the presence of Jesus on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre – Kincardine, in her 72nd year.
She bravely fought an inoperable brain tumour in her last year with never a complaint. She got weaker quickly in her last week, but was alert much of the time and able to have final visits with family and friends in her last two days, for which we are grateful. She then passed into the Lord’s presence later in the night.
Hilery will be forever missed by her loving family: Ian, her husband for 47 years, and their three children, Jonathan (Alicyn), Jennifer and Laura; and their grandchildren, Alicya, Justus, Aubrey and Adalyn – children of Jonathan and Alicyn.
She will also be missed by her brothers, Simon (Glenda) and Andrew (Janet) along with several nephews and nieces.
Hilery was a great home-maker, wife, mother and grandma. She loved her Lord; she expressed much of that through leading and taking part in Bible Studies, Sunday School work, being a church librarian, home schooling her children and especially in her love of music.
She sang in various choirs over the years. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano, listening to classical and church music, and instilling that love into her family.
She was a faithful member of the local centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists and, until her illness, was the organist at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Walkerton.
Her family and friends will dearly miss her, but we know she is in a better place with the Lord Jesus, whom she loved and served faithfully all through her life.
A private service was held at the Walkerton Pentecostal Church, followed by burial at Purdy Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Wycliffe Bible Translators, Royal Canadian College of Organists- Grey-Bruce Centre, or St. Thomas’ Anglican Church’s organ fund, would be appreciated by the family. Cards are available at Cameron’s of Walkerton (519-881-1273). Donations and condolences may also be made online at www.cameronfuneralhomes.com.
