HELEN McKENIZIE

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen McKenzie – a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend – who left us peacefully at the age of 89. Helen’s life was a testament to love and kindness, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Helen is survived by her beloved family, who find comfort in the many beautiful moments they shared with her. She will be deeply missed by her children: Barry, Brian (Claire) and Megan (Maurice); her grandchildren: Matthew (Sarah), Carissa, Dayn and Lily and great-grandchildren: Hannah, Willow and Malcolm; and her partner, Glenn, and family. Also survived by brothers-in-law Neil and Donnie, sister-in-law Cheryl and her nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Donald (2010), infant daughter Mary (1957), parents Robert Smith and Willa Graham, brother Graham, sisters-in-law Lillian, Grace and Dorothy, and brother-in-law Roxy.
Helen was known for her unwavering warmth and generosity. She devoted her life to her family, and her love for them was evident in everything she did. Her home was a haven of comfort and joy, filled with laughter, piano music and the aroma of her delicious cookies. Helen had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special, and her caring nature extended beyond her family to her wide circle of friends.
Helen’s legacy lives on through the countless memories she created with those she loved. She found true happiness in spending time with her family and friends, and her presence will be remembered with gratitude and her smile. Helen’s spirit and love will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation to celebrate Helen’s life took place at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., and was followed by the memorial service honouring her life at 2 p.m., with Rev. Rick Warne officiating.
Final resting place: Kincardine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Huron Shores Hospice, Knox Presbyterian Church – Tiverton, or the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation in Helen’s honour.
