Obituary – Hazel Fallis

HAZEL FALLIS

With the heaviest of hearts, but uplifted by her love, we remember Hazel Jessie (née McIntosh) Fallis who passed away March 15, 2023)
Loving wife of Allan (2018). Loving mom to daughters and son-in-laws: Joan (Lee Buffin), Nancy (Tony Iezzi) and Sandy (Steve Ostapchuk).
Sister to Myrt Joan Threndyle.
Devoted Nana to Melissa (Scott), Thomas (Erin), Alex and Jessica, and Great-Nana to Kyle, Evan and Owen.
Remembered with love by her Threndyle and Fallis nieces and nephews and her extended family, Devan, Galen (Craig), Andrew (Megan) and Michael (Stacey).
Mom faced adversity early in life, losing her dad at age 12. With her mom, brother and sister, they quickly learned the power of love and family to guide your destiny. It was her superpower to love unconditionally.
Mom entered the workforce at 16, accepting the need to help support her family and forgoing educational opportunities and her dream to pursue nursing. At Eaton’s, her innate eye for design and fashion thrived. She was a stunner with impeccable taste, and when dad caught her eye at a Hanover dance hall, the sparks flew and their love story began. Together they designed homes in Brantford and Galt, where they welcomed their daughters into the most exceptional family.
Mom’s kindness, sharp intellect and generosity shaped not only her family but those who she met through church groups at Sydenham, St. John’s, Wellington and Farringdon. She was a designer extraordinaire, using her gifts for fundraising, as she created sought after decor from driftwood and beautiful fabric wine bottle bags. Her ease at a sewing machine created stylish 50’s, 60’s and 70’s wardrobes for “her girls” and the best Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.
She spoiled us with the gifts of her generous heart. At home or the cottage, she welcomed us with favourite cookies, muffins and baking. She loved a good game of Old Maid or Scrabble and knew how to praise every accomplishment with sincerity and pride. Her gifts live on in all of us and for this we are eternally thankful.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be gratefully appreciated to St Joseph’s Lifecare Foundation & Stedman Community Hospice, www.sjlc.ca or Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, www.kincardinefoundation.ca
A celebration of her wonderful life was held on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Rd N, Brantford (www.mccleisterfuneralhome.ca), followed by a gathering of family and friends.
