Brian Donald MacKay of Ripley died at the Owen Sound hospital on Friday, June 7, 2019, at the age of 62.
Beloved husband of Debbie (née Fuller) MacKay.
Loving father of Sarah (Jeremy) Phelan of Lucknow, Rachel (Matt) VanHardeveld of Ripley, and John of Lucknow. Dear Papa of Wade, Blake, Brent, Austin, Harlow, Hutton and Hadyia.
He will also be sadly missed by his mother Joan of Ripley; brothers Ken of Toronto, Eoin (Lisa) of Ripley and Darryl (Lianne) of Pryor, Oklahoma; brothers-in-law Lee (Lorna) Fuller and Ross Fuller; and sister-in-law Kathy (Bruce) Culbert; as well as by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father John D. MacKay and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Margaret Fuller.
Brian was born and raised in the Ripley area. In 1978, he married Debbie Fuller and moved to the corner of Concession 10 and Bruce Road 7, where they raised their three children on the family farm. He worked for Bruce Power for over 32 years. After retiring, he became a director for the West Wawanosh Mutual Insurance Company.
He was very involved with his local community – from volunteering to coach his children’s sports to being an active member in the Ripley Lions Club – but his biggest passion was his grandkids. He was a very caring and giving soul who was always there to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed, not only by his family and friends but also by his community.
A memorial service was held at St. Andrew’s United Church in Ripley at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019, with visitation beginning at noon.
Interment Ripley Cemetery.
