Bonnie was the wife of Ernest Ackert for 53 years.

Bonnie grew up in Atwood. She was a graduate of the Stratford School of Nursing in 1966. After being introduced to a handsome farmer from Holyrood, Bonnie and Ernest began their married life at Hilray Farms. They were blessed with three children and enjoyed farm life until a change of scenery to Port Elgin in the late 1980s. Bonnie was always a gracious support to Ernest and his business endeavors. Retirement years were enjoyed thoroughly on the beach, between south Florida and a home in Lurgan Beach.
Bonnie’s life was long and happy. She experienced great love, adventure and the joy of family and friends. The final chapter in Bonnie’s story involved the challenges of Alzheimer Disease. With the support of her family, the Alzheimer Society and the incredible compassion of her caregivers at Highview Residences Dementia Home in Kitchener, Bonnie was able to end her time on earth the way that she lived it – with dignity and grace.
