Obituary – Ann Bourgeois

ANN BOURGEOIS

On Monday, May 11, 2020, Ann Bourgeois (née Shoenberg), age 79, passed away peacefully in her home in the company of her loving husband Eugene Bourgeois and her loyal dog, Leo.
Ann was born in Cambridge, England in 1941. She came to Canada as a young adult and began working as a teacher. Ann had many memories of her time in the classrooms in Kitchener, Ripley and lastly as the librarian at Huron Heights.
Ann and Eugene spent many fulfilling years establishing and building Philosopher’s Wool Co. in Inverhuron. They loved travelling across the country, introducing people to wool and teaching them how to knit beautiful sweaters. Ann delighted in gardening, reading, knitting and spending time with family and friends on her lovely farm.
Ann will be missed greatly by her husband, Eugene and her children Cati VanVeen (Tom), Alex Bourgeois and Stephanie Bourgeois (Jason).
Ann will also be missed by her grandchildren, her sister Jane Gatrell (Peter) and her brother Peter Shoenberg (Zhenia). She was a loving aunt to Lizzy and David Gatrell and a great aunt to their children.
She will be remembered and missed by her sister-in-law Judy Heikel (Harv) and her brother-in-law Don Bourgeois (Susan).
Ann was a warm and wonderful person who brightened the day of anyone who came into her life.
Following Ann’s wishes, cremation has taken place. When it is safe to do so, a celebration of life will be held at the farm.

  1. My sincere condolences. I’ve only just become acquainted with Philosopher’s Wool through a birthday gift – Philosopher’s “Fair Isle Sweaters Simplified”. Our daughter lives in London, Ontario and once the border opens we will visit ASAP with a side trip to your shop. Again, I’m sorry to hear Eugene’s sweet wife passed away last year.
