Aug. 22 will be a day long remembered by staff and guests at OK Tire. Thanks to a partnership with Bridgestone Firestone, who sponsored the event, OK Tire welcomed race car driver Mario Andretti to its shop in Bervie. Andretti has acquired a string of accomplishments in the racing world, including winning the Formula One, the Indy 500 and the Daytona 500. He has been named driver of the year in three separate decades, as well as driver of the quarter century in 1992 and driver of the century by the Associated Press. Andretti flew in to Kincardine Airport late in the afternoon and drove directly to
OK Tire, where he was greeted by owner Adam Kraemer, his family and staff. Customers and friends enjoyed a special VIP meet and greet where Andretti signed autographs and posed for countless pictures. After media interviews, the group headed outdoors to meet with the public, who came out to meet the driving mogul. “It was one of the coolest experiences of my life,” said shop owner Adam Kraemar. “He was fantastic – a super person that was easy to talk to. He has legendary status and he lives up to it.” Bridgestone-Firestone hosts events with Andretti two or three times a year. Because of the longstanding relationship between the company and OK Tire, the Bervie shop was chosen to be one of those sites. OK Tire turned the meet and greet into a community event, inviting the public to come out, enjoy a free bar becue (donations were accepted for the Kinetic Knights) and meet one of the greats of the racing world.
