The Municipality of Kincardine launched KincardineTalks.ca on Nov. 4. It’s a new community-engagement tool, and the Municipal mobile app, which allows residents, business owners and visitors to view important information and share their ideas with council, municipal staff and members of the community.
KincardineTalks.ca is powered by community-engagement industry leaders Bang the Table, a company dedicated to promoting and encouraging on-line public participation. Specializing in municipal government, the tailor-made on-line tool provides various types of collaborative consultation, including the use of polls, surveys, on-line forums, idea-sharing mechanism, Q&A postings, image sharing and more. It’s a platform many municipalities have adopted for community members to provide constructive feedback and share ideas, solutions and opportunities.
“These new tools are helping us to increase participation and communication within the community.” said Sharon Chambers, CAO of the Municipality of Kincardine. “Ensuring that residents in Kincardine are able to communicate and engage with the municipality is important to us.”
KincardineTalks.ca is live and a few preliminary consultation files have been uploaded to encourage community members to try it out. Staff will continue to add new public-participation forums to the site while working towards centralizing all of the community consultation initiatives on to this new platform.
Users can register at KincardineTalks.ca to use the new engagement tool or access it directly from the new Municipality of Kincardine mobile app. The online platform will be monitored and updated regularly, and information will be shared with council in accordance with the municipality’s standard practice.
The Municipality of Kincardine mobile app was developed by a local company, Apptic Studios Inc. With the launch of the new municipal website last year, the app provides shortcuts to the top-visited pages, making it easier to find things quickly. It pulls in information straight from the municipal website, so that all information is up to date.
Users can now quickly check their garbage schedule, read the latest news, find all the municipal social media pages, report a concern, check the recreation or council calendar and more, straight from their mobile device. KincardineTalks.ca is also integrated within this new app, which makes it easy to give your opinion on the ongoing projects in the community. Another important feature is notifications which can allow the municipality to send information about emergency alerts or important closures directly to the user’s cellphone.
The Municipality of Kincardine app is now available on both the Apple and Google Play Store for download for mobile phones and tablets.
