Gift cards support families

On behalf of its employees, Bruce Power has donated $10,000 in $50 grocery gift cards for distribution to local families through the Women’s Centre Grey Bruce, the Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey, the Huron Women’s Shelter, and the Kabaeshiwim Respite Women’s Shelter at Saugeen First Nation.

“Through the pandemic, it has proven to be challenging times for many and we know it has affected different groups of people in various ways including women in particular,” said Megan Adams, director of communications at Bruce Power. “This donation, made on behalf of Bruce Power’s employees, will support some of our community’s most vulnerable women and families.”

“At Women’s House, we’ve seen significant increases in the need for our services since March 2020,” said Michelle Lamont, community and fund development specialist at the Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey. “A donation of gift cards will be a welcome relief to the women who have left their abusive homes and need support to put food on their tables.”

In addition to the gift cards, the company also provides an annual donation to each of the women’s shelters through its Community Investment programs, totaling $22,500, in 2021.
