 Dangerous beauty
These ice shelves (volcanoes or caverns) pictured here along Station Beach, form each winter along the shores of Lake Huron. From a distance, they may look like an extension of solid ground, tempting some people to explore them. They are, in fact, one of the most unstable surfaces on the water and extremely dangerous. For a story on how they’re formed and the dangers they pose, see page 2. (Liz Small photo)

Accident near downtown Tim Hortons
A number of first-responders attended a rather unusual call that occurred near two downtown businesses on Friday, Jan. 9. When Kincardine Fire, OPP and EMS arrived on scene, they found a vehicle turned on its side, resting beside a tree, on top of what appears to be a crumpled storage shed. (Liz Small photo)
