TOM THOMPSON
Tom Thompson, formerly of Glammis and Kincardine, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, at the age of 63, following a lengthy struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
Dear husband of the late Mary Anne Thompson, who predeceased him in 2018.
Cherished father of Travis Thompson (Dani Hilborn) of Tiverton, Diane Thompson (Ryan Colangeli) of St. Catharines, Kenny Thompson (Tiffany Goulding) of Kincardine, and Trevor Thompson of Tiverton.
Adored grandfather of Zora, Katie, Lily, McKenzie and Giovanni.
Forever loved by his mother, Eleanor Thompson of Kincardine and siblings Gord (Judy) Thompson of Kincardine, Nancy (Stuart) Alexander of Glammis and Allan (Roula) Thompson of Ottawa.
Remembered by his in-laws Terry Salmon of Paisley, Eric (Laura) McKenzie of Port Dover, Ken (Cathy) McKenzie of Wingham, Cathy (Al) Fischer of Mildmay, Rob (Kim) McKenzie of Walkerton and Cheryl Stangen of Walkerton.
Also missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Predeceased by his father Ron Thompson, father and mother-in-law John and Marjorie McKenzie and sister-in-law Sharon McKenzie.
Tom had many friends and acquaintances all around Southwestern Ontario, the result of his involvement in agriculture, business and especially his participation in and love of the rural sport of broomball. The ravages of Parkinson’s disease in recent years severely curtailed Tom’s enjoyment of sporting events and socializing with family and friends. He would have loved the Blue Jays’ late season rally this month.
Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine on Friday, Sept.17, 2021.
Due to provincial restrictions, a private family funeral service by invitation, to honour Tom’s life, was held at Knox Presbyterian Church in Tiverton, on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, with Rev. Rick Warne officiating. Burial followed at the Purdy Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Purdy Cemetery or Parkinson’s Society of Canada would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
