Kincardine resident Brigitte Bellstedt was taken by surprise when she glanced out her front door on July 2 at 8 a.m.

A small group of family members and friends, along with piper John Farrell, had gathered on her front lawn to help her celebrate her 90th birthday.

The celebration was organized by Bellstedt’s daughter, Chris Myers, who is currently living in England, with a helping hand from friend and Kincardine resident Gail Walden. Pandemic restrictions have made overseas travel impossible, and Myers was disappointed that she couldn’t be in Kincardine to share this special day with her mother. Instead, she joined the group via social media, and was able to share virtually her mother’s excitement and surprise.

“Wishing the most magical 90th birthday to our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Brigitte Bellstedt,” said Myers. “With all our love, Christiane, Neil, Nicholas, Stefan , Meg and little Cecily. We love and miss you! xox.”
