Booked appointments now required for Assessment Centre

The Kincardine Assessment Centre has launched an online appointment booking system to handle the increase in appointments.

The system was launched on Oct. 5. People wishing to book an appointment should visit www.sbghc.on.ca and click on ‘Book a COVID-19 Test.’ For people who do not have internet access and require an appointment, it can be booked by calling 226-257-1500. Walk-ins will no longer be accepted.

To accommodate booked appointments, the Assessment Centre will no longer be a drive through model. People with booked appointments, are asked to follow the signage to the designated parking area for the COVID-19 Assessment Centre and arrive five minutes before their scheduled appointment time.

COVID-19 testing is available at the Assessment Centre for the following groups:

If you are showing COVID-19 symptoms

If you have been exposed to a confirmed case of the virus, as informed by their public health unit or exposure notification through the COVID-19 app

If you are a resident or worker in a setting that has a COVID-19 outbreak, as identified and informed by their local public health unit

If you are eligible for testing as part of a targeted testing initiative directed by the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of Long-Term Care (i.e. before a surgical procedure, visiting long-term care)

South Bruce Grey Health Centre has extended the hours of its Assessment Centre at the Kincardine hospital by two additional hours each day to 10 a.m.to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, and will begin operating on Saturdays beginning October 10. Although the Kincardine Assessment Centre experienced very high volumes on September 21, creating long lines for patients as the Centre opened, it has had  available testing capacity for patients every day since that date.  The busiest day for the Centre is Mondays and when it first opens in the morning.

If you are unsure of whether to visit an assessment centre, complete the online COVID-19 self-assessment tool or school screening tool to evaluate your symptoms (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/).
