DOROTHY ASTLES

Dorothy Astles passed away May 21, 2009, after a two year battle with cancer.

Left to mourn is her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Astles, of London; son Bryan Astles (Chris), of Kincardine; grandson Greg Astles (Sneha), of Mississauga; and granddaughter Cara Crossett (Tim), of London.

Missing their beloved great grandma “Elevator” are Benjamin and Samuel Crossett.

The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Douglas Miles at the Needham Chapel in London, on May 23, 2009. Paying tribute to Dorothy were her grandchildren, Greg and Cara, and nephew Edwin Radford, of Gogama, Ontario.

Dorothy and her husband Ken were cottagers at Lurgan Beach for over 35 years, where they formed life-long friendships with their neighbours at the beach.

Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Society would be gratefully accepted as expressions of sympathy.

MARY “JEAN” BROWN

Mary Jane "Jean"  Brown (née Wall) of Kincardine, died at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine on Sunday, May 24, 2009, in her 77th year. 

Dear mother of Ron (Marsha) Brown, of Courtice; Sandra (Bob) MacPherson, of  Tiverton; Joan McKay, of Kincardine; Cathy Brown (Shaun Hiscock), of Waterloo; and Allan (Bonnie) Brown, of London. Lovingly remembered by 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. 

Loving sister of Laura Bonnett, of R.R. 5, Kincardine; Elizabeth Wall (Bob Saunders), of Toronto; Joyce Farrish, of Waterloo; Marilyn (Bob) Howey, of Belmont; and George Wall, of Listowel.

Predeceased by her husband George Brown, grandson Owen MacPherson, brother Arthur Wall, her mother Mary Elizabeth (née Scott), her father Thomas Henry "Harry" Wall, and her step-mother Eva May (née Taylor). 

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009. A private funeral service will be held, with Rev. Dr. Lark Kim officiating. 

Serving as pallbearers were: Jeff Brown, Adam Mingo, Glenn Mingo, Chris MacPherson, Scott MacPherson and Jamie Brown. 

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.

JEAN CARSON

Jean (MacLeod) Carson went to be with her Lord on May 8, 2009, from Parkwood Hospital, London, Ontario, after a brave battle with cancer.

Beloved daughter of Dorothea (Alton) MacLeod and the late Johnston MacLeod.

Jean was born at the Kincardine Hospital on Jan. 25, 1943. She attended public and high schools in Ripley, Ontario.

Survived by her brothers: David, Donald, Douglas and Kenneth; and sisters: Betty, Alice and Carolyn; and their families as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Much loved mother of Tara and Michael, and grandmother to Samuel.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009.

Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London, Ontario.

OSMO (Ossie) FALDEN

Osmo “Ossie” Falden, of Thunder Bay and formerly of Kincardine, passed away at the Thunder Bay Health Sciences Centre on May 21, 2009, in his 84th year.

Sadly missed by children: Patricia (Herby) Henriksson, of Thunder Bay; Brenda (John) Baric, of Thunder Bay; Allen (Janet), of Red Deer, Alberta; Richard, of Thunder Bay; and Judy (Steve) Wrightson, of Thunder Bay; along with their families.

The funeral service will be held in Thunder Bay on June 3, 2009.
